Middle School

Faith & Theology
Middle schoolers grow in their Catholic faith through a three-year arc, progressing from salvation history, to the life of Christ, to their lived discipleship. Studies begin with the Old Testament, Catholic Social Teaching, and Theology of the Body, followed by the Gospels, the Eucharist, and Church history. The curriculum culminates in an exploration of the concepts of Truth, freedom, conscience, and vocations as students prepare to embark on a lifelong journey of leadership and service. Simultaneously, students are challenged to deepen their practice of prayer and virtue while developing their relationship with Christ.
Science
Through hands-on investigation, experimentation, and engineering design challenges, middle school students build a strong foundation in Earth, life, and physical sciences. They develop scientific inquiry and problem-solving skills that advance each year to prepare them for the rigor of high school sciences.
English Language Arts
Surveying novels, poetry, literary analysis, grammar, and essay composition, students build increasingly sophisticated reading, writing, research and presentation skills. By eighth grade, students participate in advanced discussion and historical writing and analysis. Featured texts include Stargirl, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, The Outsiders, The Hunger Games, The Call of the Wild, and Night.
Social Studies
Students trace the arc of history from ancient civilizations through the founding of the United States. Sixth graders explore Mesopotamia, Egypt, India, China, Greece, and Rome; seventh graders continue with world history from the Roman Empire through the Enlightenment; and eighth graders survey American history from Indigenous cultures through Reconstruction – alongside studies of the U.S. government’s structure and functionality.
Mathematics
Starting with ratios, percents, and introductory algebraic thinking, students progress on to proportional reasoning, probability, and inequalities, followed by linear equations, functions, systems of equations, and the Pythagorean Theorem. Across grades, students expand their comprehension and application of geometry and statistics.
