As a school embedded with Catholic values, academic excellence, and service to others, we teach our students to be successful both in and out of the classroom.  Resurrection emphasizes character development through classroom lessons from the Disciples of Christ, Education in Virtue Program.

 

Education in Virtue focuses on the development of the whole person and equips our children to strive for holiness, which is where we will find true happiness. The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines virtue as “a habitual and firm disposition to do the good.” Virtues are essentially those habits of doing good that lead us to Christ.  The three theological virtues are faith, hope, and charity. The Cardinal virtues are justice, prudence, fortitude and temperance. Flowing from these 7 core virtues are countless other virtues that help us to be in a relationship with God. Everyone is born with a capacity for virtue, but we need education and practice to become truly virtuous people.     

 

At Resurrection, your child will join many others in putting their faith into action as we live the virtues together, guided by the Disciple of Christ-Education in Virtue® curriculum brought to our school community by the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist. We are committed to the academic and moral excellence of our students because Christ is the center of our lives.

The Education in Virtue Program begins by teaching the language of virtue. Each month, our school community will focus on a particular virtue. Students will learn the definition as well as what the living the virtue would look like in our actions and sound like in our speech. In the area of discipline, students will be reminded of virtues that could help them to make better choices in the future.
