The 3's and Pre-k are exposed to emergent literacy concepts through Morning Meeting, environmental print, sound symbol correspondence, rhyming, singing and stories. Opportunities to reinforce developing number sense continue through classroom routines and are reinforced with teacher guided explorations of manipulatives around basic concepts, and games.

 

Themes reflecting seasonal changes in nature, as well as the interests of the children in the class provide the basis for daily activities and broad studies.  Children in this classroom immerse themselves in the work of childhood, which we believe is play. Every aspect of our classroom is intentionally chosen and carefully prepared to meet the developmental needs of the young child.
